World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Upgrades to an item are a way to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it can raise an item's Mark level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.
Upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specific amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's stats base increases as it is upgraded. This is the sum of all of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive depending on the person you hire and what you do. This is due to the number of perks that must be changed in order to upgrade an item.
The level of an item is a commonly used measurement of power and can be seen on all item tooltips. It can also be used to limit the amount of PvP gear players can use as PvP is restricted at lower levels. The average level of an item is listed on the character sheet.
Using the item level will allow players to compare the potency of gear when they decide to buy or sell. It's an excellent gauge of an item's worth and the amount of damage it's able to deal. Comparing items from the inventory of a seller is possible using the level of the item.
On PC, you can view the item level using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the item's full description, including the ilvl. It can also be found by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel into chat.
There are a variety of theories on how the level of an item is determined. One theory states that the item level is calculated using formulas that determine the worth of the stats of an item really are. It is based on the fact that different benefits are valued differently and that gems found in sockets increase the item's value. This can result in a calculated item's ilvl that is usually very close to Blizzard's real item level.
It's not the only factor that influences the value of an item. The level of the area where the item was dropped may alter its stats. For instance, it could increase the item's haste, or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level situations will have a higher value.
Item Stats
The item's stats can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. The game uses a variety of them in various ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the best." The stats of a base weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modification which are then increased by the player's skill.
official website to an item can increase its stats. The rarity of an item determines the upgrade cost. A grey or white item for instance, will only be upgraded once however, items with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times with higher costs.
Another method of altering the stats on an item is through affixes. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and are available in all sizes and shapes. Affixes can provide the item extra damage, add a special capability to the item (such as reviving the dead or reducing the duration of cooldowns) or make the item unique by putting an additional name to the item.
All affixes can be currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a specific amount of gold and other items that can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other options for rerolling.
Players can upgrade an item by specific stats or reroll affixes. The possible stat ranges of an item are determined by the level of the item, but every item is guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within that range, unless it is an exclusive item or an item that is a God roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that could change is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the attaches, or select which stats to increase. But as with base equipment, this would need to be done on a per-item basis, and the item compare interface wouldn't show all possible stats gained or lost at once.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player boosts the probability of obtaining items, the properties that are spawned by loot and the strength of these properties. However, it does not, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player the chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game. This is especially advantageous in early game runs since players tend to prioritize weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.
Luck can also boost the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance, which increases with each level of the item and can be further increased by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
The shields, armor, and weapons have a default Luck value of 40. These items can then be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to grant a further +40 Luck, or to increase the luck of the item up to 140.
Certain items, such as the weapon with Hollow-infused components, can also be equipped to increase the damage of any skill that is able to deal damage by 5percent. These items can be bought at the store or made using the correct ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items are a costly process and not every upgrade will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chances of success for an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item in the event that it is not successful.
When you upgrade an item the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of successfully upgrading the item and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on how much the success rates can be improved, and the overall chance of an upgrade failing can't exceed 100%.
The success of an can be affected by the luck of that item. Every item has an initial success rate of 25%, and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by an additional five percent.
It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items therefore enchantment glints and other effects can be obstructed by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
